Software Engineer
“We don't want engineers who just write code. We want builders who think in products and ship with AI at their fingertips.”
About the Role
AI-Native Product Engineering | Full-Time In India, 300 million people are creditworthy but invisible to banks. Home ownership—the cornerstone of middle-class wealth—remains out of reach for millions who deserve it. We're changing that. MoneyKarma is India's fastest-growing AI-powered home loan platform. We don't just connect buyers with banks—we've built the intelligence layer that's democratizing access to credit across the country. Our engineering team is small, fast, and deeply integrated with product and business—every engineer here is a product thinker first and a coder second. Backed by institutional investors and built by a team combining Stanford pedigree with deep India market expertise, MoneyKarma offers engineers something rare: the chance to build AI-native products that serve millions, with real ownership and zero bureaucracy. Why Join Us: • Ship AI-Native Products — You won't just "use AI"—you'll build products where AI is the product. From intelligent credit decisioning to LLM-powered customer experiences, AI isn't a feature here—it's the architecture. • Think Like a PM, Build Like an Engineer — We don't hand you specs. You'll own problem statements, define solutions, and ship end-to-end. The best ideas at MoneyKarma come from engineers who understand the "why" behind what they build. • Stay on the Cutting Edge — We actively adopt the latest in AI tooling—from Cursor and Copilot to custom agents and RAG pipelines. If there's a better way to build, we find it and use it. • Small Team, Outsized Impact — Our engineering team is deliberately lean. That means every engineer touches critical systems, ships to millions of users, and sees the impact of their work in real time. • Equity & Growth — High performers receive ESOPs and a fast track to engineering leadership. We promote based on output, not tenure. Tech Stack: Python, TypeScript, React, Node.js, AWS, LLMs, RAG pipelines Growth Path: Engineer → Senior Engineer → Staff / Engineering Lead (18–36 months for top performers) Our Selection Process: 1. Application Review — We review your work, GitHub, and product portfolio 2. Technical Deep Dive — Live problem-solving session focused on product thinking + AI fluency (no whiteboard puzzles) 3. Product & Architecture Discussion — Conversation with engineering leadership on how you'd approach real MoneyKarma challenges 4. Founder Connect — Our founder meets every engineer personally. That's how seriously we take this. 5. Offer — Within 48 hours of final round
What You'll Do
- Build AI-First Features: Design and develop product features powered by LLMs, ML models, and intelligent automation. From AI-driven lead scoring to conversational loan advisory—you'll build systems that think.
- Own Full-Stack Delivery: Write clean, production-grade code across the stack. Take features from ideation to deployment with minimal hand-holding.
- Prototype Rapidly with AI Tools: Use AI-assisted development (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, custom agents) to dramatically accelerate your output. We measure impact, not lines of code.
- Solve Product Problems: Go beyond tickets. Understand user pain points, propose product improvements, and drive technical decisions that move business metrics.
- Build Scalable Infrastructure: Design systems that serve 10M+ users reliably. Work with APIs, microservices, cloud infrastructure, and data pipelines at meaningful scale.
- Experiment & Iterate: Run quick experiments, build MVPs, and validate hypotheses. We ship fast and learn faster.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with product, design, data science, and business teams. The best engineers here are the ones who step outside their lane.
Required
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong portfolio of shipped products
- Proficiency in one or more: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, or similar modern languages
- Demonstrated experience building with AI/ML—whether that's integrating LLMs, training models, building RAG systems, or shipping AI-powered features
- Strong product instinct—you naturally think about user impact, business outcomes, and not just technical elegance
- Fluency with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) as part of your daily workflow
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), containerization, and CI/CD pipelines
- Comfort with ambiguity—you can take a vague problem and turn it into a clear, shippable solution
- Full-stack capability or deep expertise in backend systems with willingness to stretch across the stack
Preferred
- Experience in fintech, lending, or financial services products
- Hands-on work with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source models), prompt engineering, and agent frameworks
- Contributions to open-source projects or a visible technical presence (blog, GitHub, talks)
- Experience with data pipelines, analytics systems, or ML ops
- Prior startup experience or demonstrated comfort with fast-paced, high-autonomy environments
Compensation
Competitive base + performance bonuses + ESOPs for high performers
